National Selection – Qualifying for the Continental Europe Selection

Stuttgart, February 2026 — The road to the 12th edition of the Gelato World Cup, scheduled in Rimini in January 2028, continues with the National Selection – Qualifying for the Continental Europe Selection, held during the 6th GELATISSIMO Cup 2026 in Stuttgart (7–9 February 2026). The competition held on the 10th February 2026 highlights emerging talents from Germany, Austria and Switzerland, marking the second National Selection within the Europe Continental Selection route, from which only four nations will advance toward the 2028 World Final.

Since 2003, the Gelato World Cup has been the only global team competition dedicated to artisanal gelato — a biennial celebration where technique, flavour, aesthetics and artistic vision meet across nine spectacular challenges. A project by Gelato & Cultura, organized in collaboration with SIGEP WORLD, the championship represents a global platform for creativity, collaboration and Made in Italy excellence.

During the 6th GELATISSIMO Cup, Participants will be evaluated through three technical challenges:

Mystery Box: Preparation of one single gelato variety (approx. 3 litres of mix). The flavour will be drawn at the start of the competition and specified by the organiser.

Decorated Gelato Pan – Chocolate Base

Gelato Cake: Creation of one freely decorated gelato cake with a minimum of one and a maximum of three gelato varieties.

The Stuttgart National Selection follows the first qualifying milestone of the season, SIGEP Gelato d’Oro, held in Rimini in January, which officially opened the national selection pathway and selected Mario Feliciani as the gelato maker of the Italian team. National and continental selections will define the 12 teams competing for the world champion title in 2028. Each team is composed of a master gelato maker, a master pastry chef–chocolatier and a chef de cuisine, guided by a Team Manager.
